Serial number 175055 dates this saxophone to 1970. Gene had it relacquered early on to give it a distinct look. He had a "rose" lacquer put on which now looks more of a copperish orange. The lacquer finish is around 85%. There are minor repairs and dings on the body. There is extra bracing on the neck as well as patches. There are minor repairs and dings on the body. The pads are a mix of ages and resonators and will need some attention in the near future. This horn has traveled the world and shared the stage with many greats. Some of the pads are signed by Freddie Gregory. As expected, this horn has a lot of miles on it, but is still a great playing tenor.
